Composition Nine

Perfume Parlour Composition Nine is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2015. Composition Nine opens with Pepper, Jasmine, and Camellia, settles into a heart of Beeswax, Leather, and Guaiac Wood, and dries down to a base of Civet, Ambergris, and Vetiver. Perfume Parlour's Composition Nine carries an Acquired verdict, a floral-led wear.

Composition Nine takes on Amouage's discontinued Opus IX, that polarising, opulent jasmine-and-civet floral. Perfume Parlour captures the indolic jasmine and waxy-leather body well, with owners citing high similarity, though it leans sweeter and slightly less raw than the original's full-throated animalic drama.

About

Composition Nine opens loud and floral, a heady indolic jasmine laced with black pepper and the green-waxy edge of camellia, instantly recalling the operatic opening of Amouage's Opus IX. The dupe keeps that flamboyant white-floral centre but tames a little of the original's sharp, cloying intensity. The heart turns waxy and animalic as beeswax, leather and smoky guaiac wood roll in, giving it real depth and a slightly raunchy character. The drydown is where it diverges most: civet, ambergris and vetiver keep the animalic thread, but Perfume Parlour sweetens the close over time, so it settles creamier and more approachable than the Amouage. Performance is strong for a budget scent, with good longevity and moderate projection. A bold, sensual floral for cooler months and statement evening wear.
