Joyful

Perfume Parlour Joyful is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1991. Joyful opens with Gardenia, Mimosa, and Neroli, settles into a heart of Tuberose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, and Orange Blossom, and dries down to a base of Vanilla, Amber, Musk, and Sandalwood. Perfume Parlour's Joyful carries a Statement verdict, a floral-led wear.

A budget take on Givenchy Amarige. The honeyed mimosa, gardenia and tuberose bouquet and warm powdery-vanilla base capture the original's joyful, glowing white-floral character, though the dupe wears flatter and skin-closer - the legendary powerhouse projection is softened.

About

Joyful opens on a bright, honeyed accord of mimosa, gardenia and neroli - that distinctive yellow, sunshine-warm feel that gave the original its joyful reputation. The heart blooms into a lush white-floral bouquet of tuberose, jasmine, ylang and orange blossom, dense and creamy. The drydown turns warm and powdery with vanilla, amber, musk and a touch of sandalwood. Inspired by Givenchy Amarige, it chases that powerhouse mimosa-and-tuberose character, simultaneously honeyed, powdery and glowing. As a Perfume Parlour version it renders the composition flatter and skin-closer, with the inexpensive sweet florals and powder weighted up and the dense, room-filling intensity tamed, so it projects far less than the original, which announces itself before the wearer enters the room. The result is a warm, romantic white floral that captures the glowing mood of Amarige for a fraction of the price - and is easier to wear up close.
