Noire Illusion opens on bitter coffee and dark chocolate dusted with raw sugar cane, immediately recalling the brooding gourmand heart of Kilian Black Phantom. The middle turns nutty and sweet - almond folded into caramel - before a soft base of sandalwood and powdery heliotrope rounds it off. Where the original is a layered, salty-boozy affair with rum at its centre and a creamy, almost intimidating depth, this Perfume Parlour version flattens the booze and pushes the caramel-chocolate sweetness forward, reading more straightforwardly dessert-like. Projection stays moderate and longevity lands in the middle band rather than the original's all-evening grip. A cozy, sensual coffee gourmand best saved for cold-weather evenings and date nights.
