Oud Embrace

Perfume Parlour Oud Embrace is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2018. Oud Embrace opens with Rose, Saffron, Woody, and Thyme, settles into a heart of Rose, Oud, Patchouli, and Cumin, and dries down to a base of Oud, Leather, Amber, and Sandalwood. Perfume Parlour's Oud Embrace carries an Acquired verdict, a oud-led wear.

Perfume Parlour's budget version of Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud Aswad, the sweet 'burning wood and rose' oud. Owners say it lands the smoky oud-and-amber base around 90% close, though the rose-saffron top reads a touch sweeter and simpler and it can tip sugary sooner than the bold original.

About

Oud Embrace follows Swiss Arabian's Shaghaf Oud Aswad: a fiery opening of Indian rose and saffron over woody notes and a flick of thyme, leading into a smoky, resinous heart of agarwood, patchouli and a savoury cumin-coriander spice with jasmine softening the edges. The drydown is the signature part - deep oud and leather over amber, sandalwood, vanilla and musk, warm and a little sweet. Against the original, the PP take captures that burning-wood-and-rose DNA convincingly and owners rate the base around 90% close, but it leans sweeter up top and the spicy, complex heart reads simpler, tipping toward an apple-pie sweetness sooner. The designer was already an affordable, decent performer, and this dupe holds reasonably well for a budget oil. A bold, smoky-sweet oud for cold-weather evenings and dressed-up occasions.
