Ringing Poppy

Perfume Parlour Ringing Poppy is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2010. Ringing Poppy opens with Lily, Jasmine, Gardenia, and Mandarin, settles into a heart of Pepper, Tobacco, Peach, and Incense, and dries down to a base of Amber, Patchouli, and Sandalwood. Perfume Parlour's Ringing Poppy carries a Statement verdict, a floral-led wear.

Perfume Parlour's Ringing Poppy chases YSL Belle D'Opium's smoky white-floral oriental. The jasmine-gardenia opening and tobacco-incense heart read true, but it lands flatter and softer than the original's luminous, hours-long sillage.

About

Ringing Poppy opens on a bright sweep of Casablanca lily, jasmine and gardenia lifted by mandarin, the same luminous white-floral signature that made YSL Belle D'Opium feel modern against the heavier vintage Opium. The heart is where the inspiration shows clearest: a smoky tobacco-and-incense accord threaded with peach and white pepper, echoing the original's nargileh-style hookah effect. It dries down over amber, patchouli and sandalwood into a warm, sensual oriental base. As a Perfume Parlour budget interpretation it renders the composition a touch flatter and more 2D than the designer - the incense smoke is gentler, the florals less radiant - and longevity sits closer to the skin at a few hours rather than the 8-plus the original can manage. Still, the spicy-oriental character, the tobacco-floral tension and the overall mood come through convincingly, making it an affordable way to wear the Belle D'Opium idea for an evening out.
