Wanted Elixir opens bright and juicy, a tart raspberry lifted by bergamot and green mandarin that reads sweeter and more candied than the original's poised opening. The heart turns aromatic with cardamom, lavender and clary sage adding a lightly spicy, barbershop edge. The base is where the scent makes its case - leather laced with vetiver and a dry wolfwood that aims for the strange, addictive agave-leather signature of Azzaro Forever Wanted Elixir. Side by side with the original, this Perfume Parlour interpretation runs flatter and more linear: the fruit is louder and more obvious up front, while the smooth, weird leather depth that made the designer version compelling is rendered more simply and loses its grip on the skin sooner. Still, it's a characterful, confident fruity-leather for cooler days, easy to reach for on a date or a casual evening out.
