Molecule 01 is one of niche perfumery's strangest success stories: a fragrance built on a single aroma-chemical, Iso E Super, that reacts differently with everyone's skin chemistry to create a soft, velvety, almost invisible woody-ambery halo. It has no real top, heart or base in the traditional sense, just a slow-building radiance that reads as expensive and mysterious rather than as a 'perfume' at all. Rebel Aromas' Atomic takes a much more conventional route to a similar mood: an upfront woody-musk built from Iso E Super alongside ambrette seed and cedar, wrapped in a soft amber base. It smells pleasant and inoffensive on first spray, but it lacks the ghostly, skin-melding quality that makes the original so beloved, and it will not last anywhere near as long. Anyone hoping for a spookily accurate Molecule 01 clone at pocket-money prices should keep expectations modest; this is a simple, wearable woody-musk in the same neighbourhood, not a dead ringer.
