Copycat's Aventus Cologne captures the brighter, fresher personality well - the mandarin-ginger combination is lively and immediately distinguishes this from the smokier original Aventus, which is the right read on what makes the Cologne flanker distinct. The vetiver-sandalwood heart holds up reasonably too, giving a clean, modern woody feel. Where the gap opens up is in the base: the tonka bean here reads sweeter and simpler than Creed's polished, slightly dry tonka-birch finish, and the whole scent flattens into an unremarkable musk within a couple of hours rather than the smooth, lingering warmth the original maintains through an afternoon. It's a solid entry-level citrus-woody scent for testing the style, without matching the original's refined, long-wearing finish.
