Tailored Wood is the second half of the Tailored by Ted Baker pair, and where Tailored Amber goes warm and rounded, this one goes dry, smoky and slightly sharper. The opening is bracing: grapefruit gives a bitter citrus edge rather than a sweet one, pink pepper adds a fizz of spice, and galbanum brings a green, resinous bite that stops the top notes reading as generic supermarket freshness. The heart is the most interesting part of the composition. Lavender provides the aromatic thread that ties both Tailored fragrances together, nutmeg adds a dusty warmth, and suede gives a soft, slightly powdery leather texture that is unusual to find handled this carefully at a designer price. The base is where it commits: cedarwood supplies the dry structural woodiness, a smoky oud accent adds depth without tipping into Middle Eastern intensity, and vanilla rounds the sharp edges so the drydown stays wearable rather than austere. Longevity is good for an eau de parfum in this bracket, at six to eight hours with a moderate trail, and the projection settles into a close, skin-warm aura after the first ninety minutes. It is a cold-weather and evening scent above all, though it is restrained enough for the office in autumn. In lane terms it is a designer woody spicy, and a solid alternative for anyone who finds the big smoky-oud releases too expensive or too loud.
