The Essence Vault's No. 200 takes direct aim at Creed's Aventus, built around the same pineapple-and-smoky-birch opening that made the original a modern menswear staple. Real Aventus develops in three stages - a bright citrus-and-blackcurrant opening, a fruity apple-and-jasmine heart, and a smoky, musky base - and No. 200 hits the same beats in a more condensed, less layered way. The pineapple note is louder and sweeter from the first spray, standing in for the natural fruit-and-birch interplay that gives the original its more restrained, sophisticated edge, and the patchouli-oakmoss base reads simpler than Creed's ambergris-and-vanilla-rounded finish. Performance is the biggest gap: where Aventus is known to last 6-10 hours on skin and longer on clothing, No. 200 fades into a soft musk within a few hours. It still delivers a recognisable, wearable take on the 'success and ambition' fantasy Aventus sells, just without the natural-ingredient complexity or all-day staying power of the real thing.
