The direction is right: a brief grapefruit-citrus opening gives way quickly to a dense, woody-incense body built to project further and last longer than the standard EDP dupe. The genuine Parfum is prized specifically for how it handles this transition, wrapping crisp cedar backbone around an unusually smooth, almost creamy sandalwood that reads as expensive and restrained rather than heavy. No. 299 - Intense captures the broad woody-amber silhouette but not that specific sandalwood texture; it leans harder and flatter into generic cedar-amber territory, which reads a touch more aggressive and less polished than the original's understated sophistication. Performance-wise it does deliver noticeably more longevity and projection than the standard-strength dupe, which is a fair trade if all-day wear matters more to you than nuance. For a boardroom or evening scent on a budget it's a serviceable, masculine woody option, but the specific refined quality that makes the real Parfum a favourite among Bleu de Chanel fans is only partially there.
