Riviera 13

Riviera 13 goes after one of the hardest fragrances to dupe: Le Labo's Another 13, a minimalist ambroxan-and-musk composition that lives or dies on skin chemistry. The opening does a fair job, leading with the same ambroxan-Iso E Super combination that gives the original its clean, slightly metallic freshness, with a touch of pear for brightness. It reads modern and unisex in the same way. The challenge with any Another 13 dupe is depth - the original's ambrette and salicylate interplay creates a subtle, almost skin-like warmth that builds slowly over many hours, and Riviera 13 simply doesn't have the raw material budget to replicate that slow burn. It settles into a lighter, flatter musk within a couple of hours rather than continuing to develop. Sillage is soft throughout, closer to a skin scent than a projecting fragrance, which actually suits the understated character it's going for. Worth trying if you want a taste of the Another 13 mood for daily wear, but it is a cousin to the original rather than a true match.
