Edmond Roudnitska, born in Nice in 1905, is widely regarded as one of the most influential perfumers of the 20th century and a pioneer of modern perfumery. He began his training at Roure Bertrand in Grasse in 1926, later working for the renowned fragrance manufacturer De Laire. His breakthrough came in 1943 with the creation of 'Femme' for Marcel Rochas, a fragrance that instantly earned him acclaim in haute couture circles. Roudnitska, together with his wife Thérèse Delvaux, established the laboratory Art et Parfum in 1946, which became a destination for designers seeking exceptional fragrances. In 1949, he relocated his laboratory to Cabris near Grasse, where he continued to create some of the most iconic perfumes in history. He is celebrated for masterpieces such as Diorissimo, Eau Sauvage (both for Dior), Eau d'Hermès, and Le Parfum de Thérèse. His career, which spanned decades, set new creative standards and inspired generations of perfumers. Roudnitska continued his work until his passing in 1996, leaving a legacy that endures through his timeless compositions.
