Fléchier is renowned for his generous, harmonious compositions that blend classical French opulence with modern twists, often featuring unexpected accords and a precise structure rooted in a deep knowledge of raw materials.
Edouard Fléchier, born in Grasse, France in 1949, is celebrated as one of the most creative and influential perfumers of his generation. Initially studying natural sciences, Fléchier soon followed his passion for fragrance, enrolling at the renowned Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school, later known as Givaudan. His exceptional olfactory talent was quickly recognized, and upon graduation, he joined Roure where he rapidly rose to prominence. Fléchier's career blossomed in the mid-1980s as he became a star perfumer, credited with iconic scents such as Dior Poison, Davidoff pour Homme, and Etro Gomma. He is known for his harmonious and opulent creations that marry classic French perfumery traditions with modern sensibilities. Fléchier's approach is marked by a ritualistic dedication to the fundamentals, revisiting raw materials daily to hone his craft, resulting in precise yet innovative fragrances. In the 1990s and 2000s, his work for brands like Christian Lacroix, Valentino, and Frédéric Malle, notably Lys Méditerranée and Rose Tonnerre (Une Rose), further cemented his legacy. Though personally discreet, Fléchier's creative spirit and passion for experimentation have left a lasting mark on contemporary perfumery.
