Reilly often favors minimalist, streamlined constructions with a strong transparency, frequently built around woods, vetiver and earthy notes. Macanudo for Maison d’Etto, for example, is described as a modern vetiver built with hay absolute, cut grass and freshly turned earth contrasted with bright neroli. Across her niche work (e.g., for A Lab on Fire, Sana Jardin, Scents of Wood) she tends to emphasize clear structures, luminous woods, and a refined, sometimes “soap-and-water” elegance rather than heavy ornamentation.
Mackenzie Reilly is a New York-born fine-fragrance perfumer with International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). After working for luxury publisher Assouline, she joined IFF in 2010 as assistant to the Director of the New York Creative Center and was admitted to the IFF Perfumery School in 2013. She has since created fragrances for niche and luxury brands, including A Lab on Fire California Snow and Sana Jardin Berber Blonde and Savage Jasmine (both co-signed with Carlos Benaïm). She is also the perfumer behind Maison d’Etto Macanudo and has composed scents for Scents of Wood. In 2019, ÇaFleureBon’s Editor Ermano Picco named her a “Rising Star” in their Best of 2019 awards. Reilly works between New York and Paris and holds a B.A. in international studies from Trinity College (Class of 2009).
