Evaflor

French mass-market perfume house known for budget Whisky and Je t'aime lines in emerging markets.

About Evaflor

Evaflor is a French perfume company founded in 1983 by Albert Bonan. According to the brand's own history, the business initially operated as a contract packer, handling packaging for major French perfume houses between 1983 and 1990. This early role gave the company hands-on experience with large-scale fragrance manufacturing and the technical side of production.

From 1991 onward, Evaflor shifted to creating and manufacturing its own brands for the general public. Two of its best-known lines are Whisky, a series of fragrances for men, and Je t'aime, a collection for women, which are widely distributed in emerging markets. The company states that its products are sold in about 70 countries across four continents, positioning Evaflor as an accessible, international player in affordable perfumery.

Evaflor has also expanded beyond core fragrance. In 2003 it launched Eclipse, a cosmetics line distributed in pharmacies and later via direct sales in France. Starting in 2010, the company placed growing emphasis on acquiring international brand licenses, adding licensed lines alongside its in-house creations. In 2012 it introduced Symphonie, a collection of selective perfumes built around clear, solinote-style compositions.

More recently, Evaflor added the Lotto collection in 2020, focused on fragrances and sports care for men and marketed under an "ECOLOSPORT" concept that highlights a sport and eco-oriented positioning. Across its portfolio, Evaflor concentrates on budget-friendly perfumes aimed at mass-market consumers, with a particular focus on men’s lines and value-driven distribution in developing markets.

Brand Evolution

Evaflor started as a contract packer before building its own mass-market brands in the early 1990s. Over time it expanded from core masculine and feminine lines like Whisky and Je t'aime into cosmetics with Eclipse and more selective offerings under Symphonie. Since 2010, the company has increasingly relied on licensed brands and concepts such as the Lotto ECOLOSPORT range, signaling a broader move into license-based, concept-driven product lines while still staying firmly in the value segment.

Quick Verdict

Evaflor is a pragmatic choice if you want inexpensive, straightforward fragrances and do not care about niche-level originality. It suits value shoppers far more than enthusiasts chasing cutting-edge compositions.
