About Krigler

Krigler is a family-owned perfume house founded by Albert Krigler in 1904, when he opened a haute parfumerie in St. Petersburg. The Berlin-born chemist had earlier created Pleasure Gardenia in 1879 as an engagement gift for his French fiancée. The house later returned to Berlin in 1905, where Albert opened a boudoir at Hotel Viktoria and created Schöne Linden 05, named for Berlin's Unter den Linden boulevard.

The brand developed around bespoke perfumery and discreet hotel boutiques rather than broad retail distribution. Its history includes locations associated with luxury hotels such as the Plaza in New York, the Dorchester in London and Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin. Krigler's catalogue retains historical formulas alongside newer interpretations, with recurring themes that include gardenia and other florals, citrus, woods, amber, spices and musks. The result is a niche house focused on concentrated, place-linked compositions and private-client heritage, with a more exclusive and historically oriented profile than mainstream designer fragrance.

Brand Evolution

Krigler began with bespoke scents for private clients and high society in St. Petersburg, then continued the model after returning to Berlin in 1905. The family later developed a network of luxury-hotel boutiques while preserving older formulas and introducing newer creations. Its direction remains centered on limited-distribution, family-led perfumery rather than mass-market expansion.

Quick Verdict

Krigler offers genuine historical depth and unusual compositions, but its exclusivity and luxury positioning make it a difficult house to approach casually. It suits collectors more than shoppers seeking easy availability or predictable crowd-pleasers.
