The Perfumery Art School UK

The Perfumery Art School UK trains people who want to become independent artistic perfumers. The focus is on naturals and materials of natural origin, alongside a small range of biotech aromatic materials, and the teaching follows French professional standards. Perfumery Art School UK Ltd was incorporated in London in January 2013 (Companies House no. 08356910). It was founded and is led by Isabelle Gellé, a creative perfumer specialising in natural aromatics, supported by John Marchant on student services and Dr Mah Hussain-Gambles MBE, a pharmacologist, as technical advisor.

The school's two flagship qualifications are CPD UK certified: a 12-month Certificate in Perfumery Art and a 24-month Diploma in Art of Perfumery, the latter built from roughly 700 learning hours across four modules - Sense of Smell, History & Cultures, Fragrance Creation, and Legislation & Selling (covering cosmetics-registration and regulatory compliance rather than just blending technique). Final assessment requires submitting a finished perfume sample for grading. Certificate pricing runs £990 to £1,750 depending on whether a UK/EU starter kit is included. According to the school, a handful of graduates have used its courses as a springboard into further study at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris, the Grasse Institute of Perfumery and the Université Côte d'Azur fragrance management programme, and two have been recruited as fine fragrance assistant perfumers at Sozio and Givaudan.

Teaching is delivered online, so the courses can be followed from anywhere, and the school also runs one-on-one Advanced Formulation masterclasses at its perfume studio in rural Andalucia. Diploma and Certificate sessions normally start twice a year, in March and October. The school ran a single intake in 2026 while it restructured its digital courses, and returns to two intakes from 2027. Each session takes no more than 12 students, and the school's enrolment page carries the next start date.
