About
Apple tree is a fantasy note, not a material. No apple wood is distilled for perfumery, so the effect is built synthetically on fruitwood facets of materials like Timbersilk and Cashmeran. What it delivers is a fruity-woodiness: a soft, warm, lightly sweet wood carrying an echo of ripe apple.
Scent Profile
Fruity first - the gentle sweetness of a ripe apple, but dry rather than juicy. Under it a dry woodiness and a soft creamy-woody warmth, softer and less resinous than cedarwood. A light sweetness runs through both, and a subtle earthiness grounds the base.

Origin
Malus domestica in name only. Both sources state plainly that apple tree wood is not commercially distilled and the scent is recreated synthetically, so there is no species, organ or extraction behind the note. Perfumers reconstruct it as an accord, most often on woody-musky bases such as Timbersilk or Cashmeran with fruity esters over the top.
Usage in Perfumery
A base note used to anchor fruit-forward tops by echoing their sweetness in a drier, woodier register. It turns up in niche compositions after an orchard or pastoral atmosphere, and it is paired with hay, coumarin and honeyed florals. It is chosen when cedarwood would be too resinous and birch too camphoric.
