Bacdanol
Note Profile
About
Diffusive sandalwood with a rose and milky lift
Scent Profile
Bacdanol smells of true sandalwood, warm and powerful, and it spreads a long way. A creamy, almost cosmetic milkiness runs through the wood. A soft rose tone lifts it, and a sweet note close to vanilla rounds the drydown.

Origin
Bacdanol is a synthetic sandalwood molecule made by IFF, CAS 28219-61-6. Its chemical name is 2-ethyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol. It is made in the laboratory, not taken from a tree.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as a strong, low-cost sandalwood note that spreads well and does not discolour a product. IFF says it gives long-lasting support to floral accords. It works in the base but shows from the top of a blend onward.
