Cristalfizz is an IFF captive aromachemical shown around 2016 in IFF's Secret Smelling and Speed Smelling collections, alongside Coolwood and Aquaflora. IFF's own description gives it three qualities in one breath: citrus zest, a watery ozonic feel and an aldehydic fizz. Parfumo records it in 6 perfumes between 2016 and 2026, usually in the top.

Scent Profile

Citrus leads because IFF names it first and names it concretely: 'citrus fizzy, with orange and mandarin zest'. Aquatic_ozonic is the next clause of the same sentence, 'a watery feel, crystal fresh and ozonic', and it is close behind the citrus rather than under it. Aldehydic is the 'aldehydic and unique' that closes the description, and it is what makes the fizz read as sparkle rather than as juice. No source ranks these three, so the order here comes from which is named first and most concretely, and the spreads on all three are wide enough to swap them. A little mineral and a small fruity roundness sit beneath.

Origin

A synthetic captive owned by IFF. No CAS number, chemical family or open datasheet is published for it. The only detailed odour wording available is IFF's own, carried by The Perfume Society in its report on the collection, so even the primary description reaches us secondhand.

Usage in Perfumery

A top-note material. Parfumo reports it 'often occurs in the top note of a perfume', which fits a citrus opener rather than a base. It gives a citrus accord an effervescent lift and a wet, ozonic transparency, so it is used where a straight zest oil would smell too heavy or fade too plainly.
