Electro-statical accord is an abstract accord that stands for the smell of statically charged material. It is a technology note, not a plant or a distillate. Parfumo describes an early version as being worked up from the smell of heated polyester in a tumble dryer and of freshly opened computer hardware.

Scent Profile

Aquatic_ozonic leads. Static electricity smells of ozone, and the only account of the accord's origin calls the early version fresh, which is the word this facet exists for. It sits under blue-sky-accord at 0.82 and freshwater-accord at 0.85 because the second reading available pulls warm, and a clean ozonic peak would ignore that. Mineral is the charged-metal and new-electronics half of the origin story, the smell of a device casing just out of its box. Smoky comes from the one reviewer who tried to name the effect and called it the smell of scorched plastic that has already been extinguished. Aldehydic is the abrasive, sparking sharpness the Luminescence reviewer had to survive. Clean_musk is the heated-polyester side of the origin story, the warm-laundry smell of a dryer load. Below a cooling_mentholic prickle carries the crackle, and small dry_woody and sulphurous values sit open for the acrid edge of hot plastic, which nobody names directly.

Origin

Nobody sells this as a raw material. It is a perfumer's construction that names an effect rather than a formula, so its composition is not published and varies by house. The documented starting point is domestic and industrial rather than natural: hot synthetic fabric and new electronics. Parfumo records the note on about 40 perfumes and says it often runs through the whole pyramid rather than sitting in one tier.

Usage in Perfumery

Used in cold, synthetic and futuristic compositions, usually near the opening, to put a charge behind aquatic and metallic materials. Reviewers treat it as confrontational. One writing about Oriflame Luminescence says that if you survive the electrostatic chord it gets really nice, which is a fair summary of how the accord is deployed: a sharp gate in front of a softer fragrance.
