About

Erigeron (fleabane) is the steam-distilled oil of a roadside weed in the daisy family. It smells herbal and green with a sharp lemony lift on top. The lemon does not read clean. A weedy, medicinal roughness sits under it and keeps the oil on the herb side of citrus.

Scent Profile

Aromatic_herbal leads and both sources agree on it: Premiere Peau calls the oil 'herbal-green' and places it 'between lemon verbena and wild thyme', and a buyer at AV-AT independently reports a 'grassy herby quality, like a meadow field'. Green sits close behind and is the crushed-leaf, meadow side of that same impression. Citrus is third and is real but subordinate: the reported 40-70 per cent limonene gives 'a prominent lemony lift', yet Premiere Peau is explicit that 'the herbal-weedy undertones keep it from reading as pure citrus'. Below the vector is deliberately quiet. Fresh_spice rests on a single source ('sweet, fresh, spicy fragrance') and carries a wide spread. Dry_woody is a low guess from the sesquiterpene content rather than a stated odour, and it is not zeroed because no source claimed the oil lacks a woody tail. The medicinal, astringent weediness that both sources report has no facet of its own in this scheme and is left in the prose.

Origin

Distilled from the flowering herb of Erigeron species, most often Erigeron canadensis (Canadian fleabane, also sold as horseweed). The plant is wild-crafted rather than farmed. Limonene is the main constituent, reported at 40-70 per cent, with trans-alpha-bergamotene and other sesquiterpenes behind it.

Usage in Perfumery

A niche top-note material used for citrus-herbal lift. Perfumers reach for it when a bright opening needs to read wild rather than groomed. One supplier review describes using it to soften a loud floral and add a meadow-plant edge.
