CORRECTED 2026-08-14: the material IS held, as 'Perilla oil, rectified'. Held as perilla - shiso IS Perilla frutescens, the Japanese and Latin names for one plant. Origin

Shiso is derived from the leaves of the Perilla frutescens plant, native to East Asia. In perfumery, its essence is typically obtained through steam distillation of the fresh or dried leaves, which are cultivated primarily in Japan and China.

Usage in Perfumery

Perfumers use shiso as a heart or accent note to impart green, aromatic freshness and a modern twist to compositions. It blends well with citrus, mint, woods, and spices, and is often found in both contemporary fougère and avant-garde fragrances. Its distinctive profile can add vibrancy and depth to both masculine and unisex scents.
