Grapefruit soda is the smell of a sweetened, carbonated grapefruit drink: Jarritos Toronja, Squirt, Ting, San Pellegrino Pompelmo. The nose is real grapefruit rather than candy citrus, over sugar and fizz.

Scent Profile

Citrus is nearly the whole note and both sources lead with it. Difford's Guide, smelling the actual drink: 'Powerful natural grapefruit scent, commanding citrus tone, slight lemonade note'. Firebird, building it as a perfume: 'a fizzy, sweet-tart blend of red grapefruit'. Both say the citrus is true grapefruit, not a synthetic sweet-citrus, which is why this sits above lemon-soda's rather than below it. Sweet_vanillic is the sugar: 'sweetness left at the back of the mouth' and 'sweet-tart'. Aquatic_ozonic is carbonation, named as 'very fizzy texture' and 'soda bubbles'. Fruity covers grapefruit flesh plus the peach nectar Firebird adds, and its spread is the widest at 0.25 because peach is one perfumer's choice and may not generalise. Sour is 'sweet-tart'. Sulphurous is carried down from the published grapefruit note at 0.35, since Difford's calls the aroma powerful and natural, and grapefruit's thiols are what make it read as grapefruit rather than orange. Aldehydic and mineral are the fizz, scored lower than in soda-bubbles because here the citrus dominates. Green is a trace of the zest.
