Scent Profile

Tobacco_hay and honeyed sit almost level, and that pairing is the whole point of the term. Habibi NY names them as two separate co-equal top notes, 'Golden honey, tobacco leaf', rather than letting the honey be a quality of the leaf. Tobacco_hay is set below the plain tobacco note's 0.95 and below pipe-tobacco's 0.88 because the added honey and resin dilute the cured-leaf share of the whole. Honeyed is above every published tobacco note (pipe-tobacco 0.60, blond-tobacco 0.45) and that gap is the note's reason to exist. Sweet_vanillic is the 'sweet woods' and the general sweetness three sources reach for. Amber_resinous covers 'resins' and 'amber', both named directly. Dry_woody and leather come from 'smoked oud' and 'soft leather'. Smoky is the smoked oud again, read as smoke rather than wood, and it is the one facet that separates this from blond-tobacco entirely. Fruity is Premiere Peau's 'wine-like fruitiness' from megastigmatrienone, held below tobacco's 0.55 because no source for this accord names fruit. Below the naming line: animalic for the hive quality real honey carries, nutty for the papery leaf.

Origin

A prepared accord, not a single material. Perfumers build it from tobacco absolute and a honey or beeswax material, usually with resins and woods beneath. The honey is partly redundant: Premiere Peau traces tobacco absolute's own honeyed character to megastigmatrienone isomers formed as the leaf cures, and describes blond tobacco as honeyed because curing 'preserves the leaf's natural sugars'. The named accord goes further than the leaf does by itself.
