A soft leather note. It reads as fine-grained and creamy rather than tanned and sharp, and it keeps an animal warmth that the other soft leather notes drop. Nothing in the sources gives it smoke, tar or tannin bite. It closes on a woody, musky base.
Scent Profile
Leather is the only facet stated as dominant, and both sources state it. Premiere Note calls nappa leather 'a renowned raw material' whose 'finesse and softness of its grain' is the point, and a retailer reprinting the same copy calls it 'refined suede and leather notes'. Animalic is the claim that separates this note from the other soft leathers. Premiere Note keeps it explicitly, writing that the softness of the grain 'are contrasted with its animalic notes', whereas the published Blond Leather note is defined by the absence of exactly that facet. Creamy_woody comes from 'this creamy accord' and from the retailer's 'soft woody musk base'. Clean_musk is from the same phrase, 'the woody, musky base'. Both are read off one sentence by one publisher, so both carry a spread. Dry_woody splits that woody claim, since neither source says which kind of wood. Powdery is the weakest inference here: soft, fine-grained leathers in this vocabulary carry powder, but no source uses the word for nappa, so it is held below the naming threshold with a wide spread. Sweet_vanillic, fruity and amber_resinous are token values. The 'fruity-leather' phrase in the retailer copy describes the finished perfume, which contains raspberry, not the raw material, so it is not allowed to drive the vector. Origin
Napa leather is a physical leather, not a distilled material. Wikipedia describes it as leather from calves, lambs and kid goats, chosen for soft hides, and states plainly that 'it is a generic term in the leather field and has no distinct test for characterization'. As a perfumery note it is a built accord, not an extract. The only maker who describes it is Premiere Note, which sells it as a named raw material.
