About

Pink magnolia is the pink-flowered magnolia blossom. It reads sweeter, rounder and more powdery than the published magnolia note, which leads with lemon and green. Creative Formulas calls it 'a very sweet, intensely floral, powdery, unique pink Magnolia blossom odor with rose, geranium, jasmine and grapefruit undertones'. Pairfum contrasts it against white magnolia by name: white is 'fresh, citrusy' and daytime, pink is 'a slightly sweeter, richer floral scent'.

Floral leads and both trade sources put it first: 'very sweet, intensely floral' and 'bright, floral, and slightly fruity'. This is petal florality of the rose-and-geranium kind, which is exactly the undertone list Creative Formulas gives. White_floral is the jasmine in that same list, and the fact that this is still a magnolia blossom. Powdery is named outright by Creative Formulas, and it is the facet that most separates this from the parent note. Sweet_vanillic carries the sweetness all three sources reach for, and it is what Pairfum means by 'slightly sweeter, richer' than white magnolia. Fruity is Collage with Nature's 'slightly fruity'. Lactonic is not stated by any source on pink magnolia. It is held there rather than zeroed because the published `magnolia` note carries it at 0.48 and nothing in this evidence claims the creaminess is gone. Below, citrus is the grapefruit undertone, cut far below the parent's 0.62 because Pairfum contrasts pink against white magnolia's 'fresh, citrusy' character by name. Green and honeyed are unstated and held low.

Origin

Most plausibly Magnolia liliiflora or Magnolia x soulangeana, the saucer or tulip magnolia sold as the pink-flowered one, but no source found states the species. No commercial essential oil exists for M. x soulangeana. Everything sold under this name is compounded: Creative Formulas lists a 'Pink Magnolia Base' as a fragrance-base SKU, and Collage with Nature sells it as a natural-perfumery essence blend. No manufacturer olfactive description was found.
