Lychee Blossom is a transparent floral that reads rose-like and honeyed, with a thin tropical-fruit lift behind it. It is lighter and cleaner than the lychee fruit note, which goes rosy-grape and slightly sulphurous. The blossom stays in floral territory and never becomes juice.

Scent Profile

Lychee Blossom is a delicate, rose-like floral with a honeyed sweetness running through it. Underneath sits a thin, transparent tropical-fruit lift, closer to a trace of melon than to real juice. A light, juicy stone-fruit note rises in the middle, but it stays a modifier rather than the point. It is lighter and cleaner than the lychee fruit itself, and it never quite turns into juice.

Origin

The lychee tree (Litchi chinensis) carries small yellowish-green flowers that give a honey-like nectar scent. There is no commercial extraction. Premiere Peau states plainly that what perfumery calls litchi blossom is a fantasy accord built from rose-like materials, tropical-fruity modifiers and honeyed notes. Corroboration comes second-hand from lychee honey, which is the same nectar after bees have worked on it.

Usage in Perfumery

Used in the heart to give an exotic floral without the weight of jasmine or tuberose. Premiere Peau places it below magnolia in weight and calls it less indolic than tropical exotics. It pairs with rose materials, light musks and soft fruity notes, and it suits compositions that want an orchard-in-bloom impression rather than a fruit-market one.
