Sea cucumber is a dirty marine note, briny and iodic like a tidal pool rather than open water. The opening is sharp, almost medicinal brine. A faint mineral salt sits on the skin. An animal depth runs underneath, over a seaweed-like base, with a trace of ambergris-type warmth and a slightly vegetal green note. It carries a faint amber, resinous warmth beneath the brine.

Origin
Sea cucumber is a fantasy marine note. No extract of the animal is used. A perfumery glossary describes it as a composed accord of calone, seaweed absolute, ambergris-type materials and traces of animalic musks. It aims to recall marine invertebrate life on wet rocks.
Usage in Perfumery
A rare effect note in marine and animalic compositions. It gives an aquatic accord a wetter, more organic depth than calone alone. Monsillage Route du Quai (2019) lists it among its top notes as a marine accent. It pairs with seaweed, ambergris and salt notes.
