Note Profile
Dry honeyed mountain herb
Sideritis smells herbaceous and warm, like a dried herb on a sun-baked hillside. A dry, sage-like backbone carries it, softer and less medicinal than sage. A light honeyed sweetness sits over a green top. It dries down to hay, soft wood and a touch of warm resin, with a faint stony edge.

Sideritis is a genus of Lamiaceae herbs, mainly Sideritis scardica and its relatives, brewed in Greece and the Balkans as mountain tea. A pale yellow essential oil and a CO2 wax are made from the dried herb. It is not Camellia tea.
Perfumers use it as a heart note in herbal, Mediterranean and aromatic compositions. It gives a dry, honeyed herbal character that lavender, rosemary and thyme do not. The CO2 wax also brings a soft hay and amber drydown.
