About
Skunk accord is the animal, not the plant and not the cannabis strain. The one person found who had smelled a skunk-tincture fragrance called it 'that musky burnt rubber type smell' and drew the line himself against 'the citrus-green-weed type marijuana smell'. It is used the way castoreum and civet are used: a small dose of something foul that makes everything around it read as alive.
Scent Profile
Sulphurous leads and it is the whole note. Skunk spray is thiols, and the one first-hand account describes exactly the rubbery sulphur those give. It is scored just under rubber at 0.92 because rubber's sulphur is the only thing rubber has, while this note splits its weight with the animal. Animalic follows and is nearly co-dominant: the same account leads with 'musky', and every house using the note deploys it beside castoreum and hyraceum. Smoky is the burnt half of 'burnt rubber' and the warm blacktop in the second account. It is held well under tires at 0.62 because no source names tar or char directly. Leather and earthy sit below the reporting threshold and are inferred from the note's company in the base, so they carry wide spreads. Green is deliberately not zero: cannabis skunkiness is a real neighbour of this word and one poster says lit marijuana 'almost smells skunky', so a small green possibility is left open rather than denied.

Origin
No supplier publishes an odour datasheet for a material of this name. Perfumers build it themselves, some from a real skunk tincture sold by small apothecary suppliers and sourced from trappers. Parfumo lists 21 perfumes carrying the note. The houses that use it, Prin, Sultan Pasha Attars and DSH Perfumes, are the same houses that build with hyraceum, deer musk and castoreum. Because each house reconstructs it, no two versions are guaranteed to match.
Usage in Perfumery
It sits in heavily animalic niche and attar compositions, never in mainstream aquatic or fruity work. One reviewer describes the effect as hyper-realistic and placed at distance, 'like driving down a road with warm blacktop surrounded by forest, skunk smell in the distance'. That is how it is dosed: a trace, read from across the road.
