About
Sorbettolide is a sweet, creamy musk. It smells of milk and soft fruit sorbet rather than of clean skin. The sweetness is the point: perfumers reach for it where vanilla or praline would otherwise carry the sugar.
Scent Profile
Clean_musk is the body of the note and both trade sources name it outright: Nez calls it a 'sweet musk', BeautyMatter calls it a 'new musk'. Lactonic and sweet_vanillic carry the character that separates it from a skin musk. ScentSeeker describes a 'delicate balance of creamy, milky notes' and 'creamy, rich, and sweet nuances of sorbet', and Nez says it is used in place of vanilla or praline. Fruity is the sorbet fruit, named as a background suggestion rather than a fruit accord: 'notes like mango, raspberry, or lemon might be suggested subtly in the background'. A small powdery facet follows from the musk, and the citrus and tropical traces are the lemon and mango of that same sentence held down to what one community source claims.

Origin
Sorbettolide is a captive musk molecule from Firmenich, now dsm-firmenich, trademarked in 2017. It is made by synthesis and sold as a renewable, biodegradable replacement for older musks. It is not available outside licensed industry channels, so no public manufacturer datasheet describes it.
Usage in Perfumery
Used as a base musk that also supplies sweetness. It sits under gourmand, fruity and soft floral accords, where it fills the role a vanillic or lactonic sweetener would otherwise take. Nez groups it with Strawbinone as one of the sweet musks.
