Origin
The referent is the spring flower of Prunus cerasus, the sour or Morello cherry, a different species from the ornamental Japanese flowering cherries that give the note Cherry Blossom its name. No essential oil is distilled from it. Cherry blossom petals of any species yield almost nothing on extraction, so the note is a reconstruction built from aroma molecules.
