The only description of this molecule is a six-term list: camphoreous, woody, green, cooling minty, earthy and tropical. That is a presence-only list, and a presence-only list has no dominance in it, so every value here is a judgement about which terms repeat rather than a reading of stated strength. Cooling_mentholic leads because two of the six terms point at it, 'camphoreous' and 'cooling minty', and no other facet is named twice. Dry_woody is second because 'woody' is named once in the list and again at family level, where the review says spirocyclics are 'quite frequently woody'. Origin
Spiranol is a Firmenich captive of the spiranic family, meaning a molecule built on a spiro ring junction. No manufacturer datasheet, CAS number or structure for a material of this name was reachable. What is established is the family. A 2022 ChemPlusChem review of spirocyclic fragrance chemistry reports that these molecules 'were found to be quite frequently woody, as well as fruity and ambery', and Firmenich patent US4465618A covers a spiranic compound described as 'fruity and woody... reminiscent of black-currant'. Neither source names Spiranol itself, and Firmenich spirane patents span registers as far apart as blackcurrant and costus-leather, so the family name alone does not fix the odour.
Usage in Perfumery
A synthetic used for camphor-woody effect. On the single descriptor list available it would sit with cool woods, fougeres and green accords rather than with sweet or floral work. No fragrance breakdown naming it was found, so the usage is inferred from the descriptors and not from a composition.
