Virginia Tobacco is the lightest and sweetest of the tobacco cures, plum and fig over hay rather than smoke. A dark chocolate heart runs through it, with cherries and a jammy fruitiness alongside the fig. The sweetness here is preserved and sugary rather than raw leaf. Green tea and a light grassy freshness keep it from reading too hay-like, and a honeyed, hay-like warmth ties the whole thing together.

Origin
Nicotiana tabacum leaf grown in Virginia and the wider flue-cured belt, extracted as an absolute. Flue-curing passes heated air through the barn without letting smoke touch the leaf. That preserves the leaf's natural sugars, which is why Premiere Peau calls Virginia 'the lightest and sweetest of the three principal varieties' against air-cured Burley and sun-cured Turkish. Hermitage Oils sells the material as Virginian Tobacco Absolute.
Usage in Perfumery
A base note used where a formula wants tobacco without a cigar's smoke. It carries its own dried-fruit and cocoa body, so it sits well with plum, fig, cherry, vanilla, tonka and soft woods. Perfumers reach for Virginia rather than Burley or Turkish when the tobacco has to stay bright and read as sweet.
