What this is made of
Origin
Distilled from Salvia apiana, a shrub of the southwestern United States and Baja California, and a different species from culinary sage or clary sage. Long used as a ceremonial smudge by Indigenous peoples of the region.
Usage in Perfumery
Used where a dry, sacred-smoke herbal effect is wanted. Its cultural significance and pressure from wild harvesting both bear on sourcing.
