Maxed Out opens like a beach-bar cocktail - a tropical trio of coconut, lime and dark rum, sweet and heavy. The sunscreen-and-mojito brightness quickly dries down into something far naughtier: a green, herbal hit of cannabis (closer to hemp cloth than a lit joint) threaded with tobacco and a whisper of coffee.
