Alexandria UK Monaliza is an Eau de Parfum. Monaliza opens with Raspberry and Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Rose, Cinnamon, and Clove, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. Alexandria UK's Monaliza carries an Acquired verdict, a floral-led wear.

Monaliza is Alexandria UK's dupe of Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady, keeping the fruity-rose-patchouli-incense skeleton recognisable, but it plays as a lighter, less spice-saturated version that lacks the sheer density and staying power of the niche original.

About

Monaliza opens with a juicy hit of black currant and raspberry, quickly sinking into a majestic Turkish rose heart dusted with clove and cinnamon, tracing the same baroque, spiced-rose architecture that made Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady an instant classic. The base brings patchouli, incense, amber, sandalwood and musk together for a dark, resinous finish that nods clearly to the original's famous density. Where the two diverge is intensity: Portrait of a Lady is renowned for an almost overwhelming concentration of patchouli and rose that builds for hours and projects powerfully, while Monaliza's version is comparatively restrained, arriving lighter on the incense and patchouli and settling closer to the skin much sooner. It still delivers a genuinely mysterious, sophisticated evening character at a fraction of the price, well suited to formal occasions or after-dark wear, even if it can't match the sheer theatrical weight of the Malle original.
