ARgENTUM Magician is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2022, created by Delphine Thierry. Magician opens with Orange Blossom and Pepper, settles into a heart of Chili and Clove, and dries down to a base of Amber, Cedar, Labdanum, and Benzoin. ARgENTUM's Magician carries a Statement verdict, a musk-led wear.

A warm pepper and resin scent: black pepper and clove over cedar, myrrh, labdanum and amber. Cosy, distinctive and memorable, at its best on cold evenings.

Top, heart and base are the pyramid as published, not a timing claim. The notes evaporate together, at speeds set by their vapour pressure (from ScentPrism). Each ribbon shows the note's share of what is left on the skin, which tracks how strongly it smells, because odour thresholds rise with vapour pressure. The shares come from how prominent wearers vote each note. It is a simple model, not a measurement.

About

Magician is No.VIII of the twelve ARgENTUM archetype fragrances, a spiced pepper eau de parfum the brand places under the element of fire. It is the line's most overtly peppery scent, and a favourite of the twelve for many people. The opening is black pepper with a touch of orange blossom. Clove and chilli carry the heart, giving a warm, sharp spice. The base is dry atlas cedarwood, sweet myrrh and resinous labdanum, with a trail of amber and a little benzoin. Pepper and amber run from start to finish, and the labdanum and myrrh stay clove-spicy without ever getting too intense. The spiced warmth recalls masala chai, or Christmas. The brand compares the woods to pencil shavings and the pages of an old book. Like the rest of the line it contains no alcohol or solvents. It is a milky emulsion of water and natural oils that sprays finely and keeps skin soft. Keep it off clothes. Strength is moderate on both staying power and trail, a decent, steady evening wear that fills your own space and a little beyond. It suits someone who wants a warm, sophisticated spice for cold weather, evenings and dates. It sits near the incense and spice-led resin scents of niche perfumery and shares some of the sweetness of seasonal clove blends without their heavy sugar.
