Dark Phantom

Black Phantom built its reputation on a boozy rum-and-caramel opening rich enough to smell edible, and Dark Phantom copies that opening move for move: rum and black caramel arrive together, thick and sweet, before a light rose-clove heart and a vanilla-musk base settle everything into a warm, addictive gourmand. The rum-caramel accord is genuinely the strongest part of Aromara's version, close enough to Kilian's original that the family resemblance is obvious within seconds. Where it simplifies is the mid-development - Kilian's Black Phantom has a subtle coffee-tobacco undertone that keeps the sweetness from tipping into candy-shop territory, and Dark Phantom doesn't quite hold that balance, leaning sweeter and slightly flatter through the rose-clove heart. Performance is solid for a 35% Extrait but doesn't chase the original's projection, settling into a soft vanilla-musk skin scent well before Kilian's does. Still, for the price of a fifth of Black Phantom's cost, the rum-caramel signature that made it famous is very much present, making Dark Phantom a reasonable entry point for anyone curious about the gourmand-boozy genre before committing to the real thing.
