Linen is Aromara's Extrait reading of Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Aqua Universalis, the fresh-laundry, clean-skin fragrance that popularised the whole 'smells like nothing but somehow smells expensive' category. The top opens on bergamot and Sicilian-style lemon, sharp and citrus-forward, close to the original's zesty freshness though missing a fraction of its polish. Lily of the valley and jasmine soften the heart with a soapy, just-washed floral quality, mirroring the original's central conceit of scent that reads as impeccably clean rather than perfumed. The base of white musk and cedarwood is where the dupe pulls ahead in one respect: at 35% extrait it projects and lasts noticeably longer than MFK's more restrained eau de toilette, though this comes at the cost of some of the original's famous transparency - Linen sits a little closer to skin-forward-but-audible than truly skin-scent-invisible.
