Reminisce Smoky & Spicy Patchouli is an incense-led extrait de parfum from the British house Chandrika Thomas London. The house describes it as the stillness of an ancient sanctuary, with cool stone floors, temple air and trails of smoke, and the scent follows that picture closely: smoky, resinous and a little mysterious. Frankincense leads from the start, hanging in the air like smoke, with jasmine adding a faint luminous floral spark. Nutmeg and cardamom come through next and bring dry warmth without turning sweet. Underneath, patchouli does the main work, spicy and smoky rather than sweet or earthy-damp, settling beside myrrh, sandalwood and a thread of smoky rosewood. The effect is old timber, smouldering incense and the faint trace of spice on fabric: deep and dry, and slow to show everything at once. This is a bold fragrance for the right wearer. It sits in resin-and-patchouli territory, nearer to a church-incense or temple register than to a sweet gourmand amber, and it builds presence through depth rather than a big sillage trail.
