Vanilla & Caramel Body Mist

Vanilla & Caramel is the most conventional gourmand in Coup de Coeur's mist range and, on the published pyramid at least, the best constructed. It opens on toasted almond and pear, which is a smarter pairing than it sounds: the almond gives a warm, nutty bakery note straight away while the pear keeps a bit of juice and freshness in the top so the sugar does not land all at once. Caramel and jasmine make up the heart, the jasmine adding a floral lift that keeps the caramel from going flat and buttery. Vanilla and tonka bean finish it, and tonka is the note doing the quiet work here, contributing a hay-like, almondy sweetness that makes the drydown feel rounded rather than sticky. Like everything in the range it is an alcohol mist, so it wears close, gives very little trail and fades within an hour or two. Spray it liberally, expect to reapply, and think of it as scented comfort rather than a fragrance in the full sense. It comes into its own in autumn and winter, works perfectly well at a desk because it barely projects, and layers happily under a stronger vanilla or caramel eau de parfum.
