Vanilla & Pistachio Body Mist

Vanilla & Pistachio is Coup de Coeur's take on the pistachio-cream accord that has run through gourmand fragrance for the last few years, bottled as a 200ml mist rather than an eau de parfum. Pistachio and almond open it, and the pistachio is the roasted, slightly salty sort rather than the bright green ice-cream kind, which stops the whole thing collapsing into sugar. Heliotrope and jasmine sit in the middle and do the softening work, heliotrope in particular bringing that powdery, marzipan-adjacent quality that makes nut notes smell edible. The base is vanilla with salted butter caramel and sandalwood, so the finish is creamy and faintly toasted with a woody edge holding it together. Being a mist, it wears light and close and fades quickly, usually inside an hour or two, and it will not carry across a room. That makes it a good desk-drawer or gym-bag scent, and a good layering base if you own a heavier pistachio or vanilla fragrance and want to extend the top of it. Best in autumn and winter, when a warm nutty sweetness makes most sense, though it is light enough to wear year round without smothering anyone. Vegan and not tested on animals, per the brand.
