No.046 distills Mugler's Alien down to its three signature pillars - a vivid jasmine sambac opening, a cashmeran wood heart and a white amber base - which together recreate the smooth, not-too-warm, not-too-incense-y woody-floral character the original is known for. It's a minimalist reading of a fragrance famous for its mineral, almost otherworldly amber-floral tension, and it captures that subtle floral-woody balance reasonably well on first impression. Where it falls short of the designer version is depth and staying power - Alien is known for enormous projection and multi-hour evolution, while this take stays closer to the skin and settles into its final woody-amber stage much sooner. Still, for fans of the jasmine-cashmeran-amber signature who want an everyday alternative, it delivers the right mood at a fraction of the price.
