Eden Perfumes' No.639 is built as a natural, cruelty-free alternative to Penhaligon's Changing Constance, one of the house's Portrait collection releases. The original was designed around the idea of a headstrong, rule-breaking woman, opening with cool cardamom and hot pimento before settling into a contrary mix of salted caramel and warm vanilla. This version follows the same shape - a spiced top giving way to a caramel heart and a soft tobacco-vanilla base - though it renders flatter and sweeter than Penhaligon's original, with less of the smoky pimento edge and a more straightforward gourmand character. Longevity and projection sit in the moderate range typical of alcohol-free vegan formulations, best suited to cooler months and evening wear where the caramel-vanilla base can develop on skin. It is a reasonable everyday stand-in for fans of the original's warmth, without quite matching its odd, spiced complexity.
