Fragrance Locker Desert Oud is a Parfum. Desert Oud opens with Incense and Raspberry, settles into a heart of Rose and Geranium, and dries down to a base of Amber, Oud, and Benzoin. Fragrance Locker's Desert Oud carries a Statement verdict, a oud-led wear.

Desert Oud borrows Ombre Nomade's smoky-fruity oud shape, dark raspberry against resinous incense, but the smoke reads thinner and the oud base loses much of the original's dense, brooding weight after a couple of hours.

About

Ombre Nomade is one of Louis Vuitton's most acclaimed fragrances, prized for a bold contrast between sweet dark raspberry and a wall of smoky incense that resolves into a resinous, long-burning oud base. It is a genuinely niche-calibre composition and one of the harder scents in this category to convincingly reproduce at a budget price. Desert Oud goes after the same architecture: raspberry and incense up top, rose and geranium adding a green-floral bridge, oud, amber and benzoin underneath. The opening contrast comes through reasonably well in the first half hour, but the smoke thins out faster than the original's, and the oud base reads flatter and less resinous once it settles onto skin. Where Ombre Nomade can project for most of a day, Desert Oud is a closer, quieter wear that fades to skin scent territory well before the original would. It works as a way to sample the raspberry-oud-incense idea without the investment, but anyone who has worn the real thing will notice the missing density.
