Louis Vuitton

Ultra-luxury French designer house with exclusive, modern fragrances blending fresh, woody, floral and spicy notes.

About Louis Vuitton

Founded in Paris in 1854 by Louis Vuitton, the house began as a maker of luxury trunks and leather goods before becoming one of the world's most recognised names in fashion and travel. Louis Vuitton returned to perfumery in 2016 with Les Parfums Louis Vuitton, its first fragrance collection in roughly seventy years, composed by in-house Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud at the maison's atelier in Grasse. The debut collection of seven scents, among them Rose des Vents, Apogée, Contre Moi, and Matière Noire, drew on rare materials and Cavallier Belletrud's Grasse heritage to translate the house's spirit of travel into scent. The line has since expanded with men's fragrances and the concentrated Les Extraits collection, presented in 2021 in a sculptural bottle conceived by architect Frank Gehry. Across the range, Louis Vuitton fragrances are defined by refined craftsmanship, exceptional ingredients, and a sense of journey that echoes the house's founding trade.

Brand Evolution

Louis Vuitton's fragrance history began with exclusive, classic scents in the early 20th century, then paused for decades. The relaunch in 2016 marked a new direction under Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, focusing on luminous, contemporary blends and minimalist packaging. Early relaunch collections emphasized fresh, floral, and woody notes with a modern luxury feel. Recent years have seen a gradual addition of deeper, more intense oud and amber-based fragrances, but the house remains conservative and leans toward elegant rather than daring.

Quick Verdict

Louis Vuitton offers luxurious but safe fragrances with a clean, modern signature. Quality is high, but creativity and projection are average for the price.
