HE186 opens with a crisp orange and grapefruit citrus burst, the same bright entrance that made Terre d'Hermes an instant classic on release. Black pepper and geranium bring a peppery, green transition before the fragrance settles into its defining vetiver-cedar-patchouli-benzoin base. That vetiver-forward woody base is the whole point of Terre d'Hermes, prized by fans for its rare mineral, almost metallic earthiness, and this dupe captures the general shape well while losing some of the original's more unusual, textured complexity - the drydown here reads a touch more generic-woody and less distinctly 'mineral' than Hermes' celebrated formula. Longevity and projection are moderate rather than the all-day performance the designer version is known for. Still, for the price this is a solid way to experience the citrus-to-vetiver arc that made Terre d'Hermes a benchmark modern masculine, and it wears well across most seasons.
